Jim Travers, Manager, Business Development

Jim began his railroad career on Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad as a Trackman in 1979. He worked in various positions including track inspector, track foreman and rail and tie gang supervisor before being promoted to a Roadmaster in Denver, Colorado. His territory was the Moffat Tunnel subdivision, one of the most challenging and picturesque stretches of railroad in North America.

After the merger of the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific Railroad Jim accepted a position as a Roadmaster in Tucson, AZ. When Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad merged he was promoted to Manager, Track Programs in Portland, OR, responsible for all track programs in the Washington, Oregon and Idaho region.

Jim returned to Denver when a position opened to supervise his "home" territory on the Moffat Tunnel subdivision. He joined R-Mac Sales and Leasing in 2005 as Manager, Business Development to help increase their tie plugging machine and material presence to the North American Railroad market.

In addition, Jim has done extensive track maintenance and construction consulting and safety training for short line and regional railroads.

As a former railroader, he appreciates the dedication that all Encore Rail Systems co-workers have in providing both their large and small customers with premier customer service.
